Up-to-date equipment can nowadays explore and measure the patency of veins and arteries, the efficiency of venous valves and the extent of blood reflux. The applied techniques include bidirectional Doppler Ultrasound, VOP, VOP with hyperaemia and LRR. The equipment is of enormous value for diagnosis and does not expose the patient toany risk whatsoever.
Any procedure must be preceded by expert
vascular diagnosis. Subsequent procedure is
then decided on the basis of the findings.
This may involve an surgery in the
out-patient setting, microsurgery, sclerotherapy or laser treatment
