Laser Vein Therapy

Vein dilations, such as couperosis, angiomas or spider veins, can
also be treated with lasers, if there are no contraindications.
However, prior expert vascular diagnosis is essential for so-called
spider veins, to clarify the patency of the veins and arteries, the
function of the venous valves and the extent of a possible underlying varicose vein disease, which may need an operation. Laser is the last step in the treatment chain options for varicose veins. In other words, veins may be treated by laser if surgery or
sclerotherapy are both impossible.

When a distended vein is treated by laser, the diameter of the vein slowly shrinks – after several sessions. After the therapy, there are various harmless effects on the skin, particularly the legs. These include dark blue or black discolouration of the veins, formation of blisters or scabs, or irregular pigmentation on the treated sites. These disappear after about two to three weeks, without scarring or other after-effects.
